I had been enjoying several video podcasts on my Mac and my iPhone 3G. In iTunes I subscribe to the HD format for use on my Mac, as well as the regular or large quicktime version for use on the iPhone. The HD versions have been unplayable on my iPhone 3G.

Well, now I have a 3GS. I still can't sync HD video podcasts to the 3GS, but interestingly if I download an HD video directly to the iPhone via its iTunes Store, the video is playable and very smooth. Obviously the iPhone scales the video down to its low resolution screen, but it still looks great.

Hopefully iTunes will allow us to sync HD videos to the 3GS in the future, which I'd love as I could simplify my subscriptions. It also makes me wonder whether Apple will offer a firmware update that lets the iPhone 3GS output HD via the dock connector.
