HD Video Question

So I am thinking of getting a Ipad2. I was wondering if I got the camera converter and plugged in a 1080p GoPro, would I be able to view the videos I just took? This would be very useful since you can't view the videos on the GoPro.

Also is there an app for editing this video and remain in 1080p?

I've been able to get 720p video running fine in AVPlayer HD, but I wouldn't know about 1080p. What I've heard that it will indeed play 1080p, but not smoothly.
