HD Video Streaming To PS3

i have a movie that was on bluray 720p and it was a MKV file so i converted it to AVI so that i could stream to my ps3 from my mac using medialink and when i tried to play the file it wouldn't work from my ps3 but worked from my imac. It had a error code

Any help?

Try using Handbrake to convert it for PS3.

that's what i used to convert it from the MKV file to the AVI but it still didn't work

Remember to convert the original file to the ps3 format, not the AVI file. Every conversion means quality loss.

EDIT: Try mp4 files instead?

would the MP4 PS3 conversion give out a blu ray quality

It wouldn't be blu-ray quality but you could get close although I'm not sure what the PS3 is capable of streaming. It can be a little picky on what types of mp4's it takes. As far as I know the ps3 can't take 5.1 audio encoded mp4 (at least it couldn't the last time I checked).

The handbrake crew doesn't support presets for gaming systems anymore so you'll have to play around with the settings a little to see what works.
