With HD3000 graphics, 8GB of RAM got you 512MB of VRAM, 4GB of RAM got you 384MB of VRAM

Is this the same case with the HD4000? Can someone with a 2012 MBA or MBP confirm?

Thanks.

will this extra VRAM boost with 8gb help video playback? i'm not sure if its my slow internet or the graphics card but when watching videos on youtube (flash or HTML5) i often get some lag with the image though the sound continues, i have to pause for it to catch up before playing again, its mainly only a problem when the video hasn't buffered much ahead of where i am watching.

Its most surely the internet. And no, more VRAM will not help with video decoding.
