Hdd bad sector checking app

Hi all I actually never used a tool to check bad sectors on a hdd but I decided to now since I just bought a couple external Hdds and am going to be using one for time machine.

What's the best software on a Mac I can use to check bad sectors on my external hdds.
And can they be fixed?

Try using SMARTreporter to monitor the health of the HDD.
