HDD cable MB 13" A1278 - same cable 2011 and 2012?

Hey

I'm about to buy a hard drive cable to replace the one I have. Found one on ebay that is the same model as mine (A1278) but a 2012, whereas I have a mid 2011. Is it the same cable so I will work in mine?

It should be the same thing on the 15" and 13" unless you're looking a part that doesn't exist.

The 2012 15" and 13" models came in two major versions, a regular one based on the 2011 model with a new CPU and GPU, but otherwise the same machine and a "retina" machine that didn't have a HDD cable and instead used an SSD that connected directly to a socket on the motherboard. In other words the "retina" machines didn't have an HDD cable.

If I'm not mistaken there's cross-compatibility between machines of the same size going all the way back to the 2009 models.
