Yo guys. I have a Thermaltake USB2/eSATA HDD dock that is going south, looking to buy anew.
Any recommendations?
USB/eSATA docks are so cheap these days, I'm thinking just buy another one and let it die... (I do tertiary backups, so hopefully that's insurance against a disk error. In most comments, as docks malfunction, they won't mount, turn on, etc, but DON'T write bad data or destroy data)
I'm looking at all the USB 3, Thunderbolt, esata options, and it's all still "new" technology, expensive, and requiring multiple adapters.
Since I have a 2011 MBP, I'm even thinking about going 'backwards' a bit, to a firewire800 dock w USB2. Both my PC and MAC have FW800, and.. well, I'll be using them for a couple of years. It's still fast.. But those are hard to find these days!
What do you think?
NewerTech Voyager FW800 for $80?
Thermaltake USB2/eSATA for $35?
Any recommendations?
