I have a unibody 13" MBP. A while ago I replaced my optical bay for a second HDD. After a few months, and possibly after a very intense rainstorm I got caught in (not sure), the HDD in the primary HDD bay stopped being recognized all together. It was a SSD, so I assumed it had failed completely and abruptly. I had since replaced the drive with another SSD under warranty and that wasn't recognized at all. I assumed that the drive was faulty until I put a rotary drive in its place and heard it spin up and it still wasn't recognized.
I can still use the HDD in the optical bay, which boots into win7, if it wasn't for that, my MBP would be useless. Is this a Logic Board problem? Cabling? Is it possible that a chip on my logic board fried? If that's the case, it would seem that replacing the Logic Board is my only option (yea right, I'd need to replace the whole laptop am i right?). Any word on MBPs suddenly being incapable of recognizing internal HDDs? Remember, it can read and use the HDD in the optical bay without a problem.
Help?
Also, am I right to assume that Apple will either not touch my laptop because I've swapped out the Superdrive or charge me through the nose? Replacing a logic board doesn't really seem like a cheap procedure.
tl;dr: My MBP won't recognize internal HDDs/SSDs in the standard hard drive bay yet can boot into the drive taking the place of my superdrive.
Thanks
