I have 4 WD Red HDD but they keep failing that I have to format them. This is the 4th time happening on those HDD and WD support is assuming that QNAP TR-004 might be the issue. Some say Many HDD enclosures aren't supporting Apple Silicon Mac. It is such a frustrating situation that I have to find another HDD enclosure to use. I had no issues when I had Mac Pro 2010 with 4 bays of HDD. It just keep happening when I got QNAP and Apple Silicon Mac. I really want to figure out what is the problem for HDD failure!

I use 4 HDD but 2 of them are mired backup with Chronosync. QNAP itself seems unreliable as it keep going to standby mode and turns on but I dont see any other options around $200. I dont use it as NAS btw.

I'm going to get a new cable just for in case but if it keep happening, then I have no choice but to get a new one. Any recommendation?

I have found Mac OS in general does not play well with some Muti bay enclosures. I have had a few over the years that just don't work with OS X. I had a iceydock 4 bay that had the same issues that you have. I have always had good luck with OWC enclosures.
