so I've had my unibody MacBook since the week that Apple released them last year, and my experience with it was nothing short of excellent- until just under a month ago... within the last couple weeks, I've suddenly begun experiencing non-stop problems with both the HDD and optical drive. here's my situation-
1) this past July, I purchased my current HDD from Seagate to the replace the old one, and this is easily the worst experience I've ever had with a hard drive... it clicks/stalls literally once every 10-15 sec (regardless of how hard I'm working it), and turning off the Sudden Motion Sensor does nothing toward reducing this behavior. I can't bring myself to believe that any hard drive should go bad in such a short span of time, but I can't see myself having any alternative but to RMA the HDD and hope Seagate can replicate my issues... it's less than 2 months old, though, why am I already having issues with it?
2) within just this past week, my optical drive has either a.) disappeared an average of once every 10 discs that I attempt to import or b.) given me errors along the lines of "Unable to read from disc," and the only way to get it to show up/work again is to restart the computer... what irks me is that Apple just replaced the drive less than a month ago, which will make this the second time in less than a year that I've needed to have the optical drive replaced. so far I've been unable to import all ~800 of my CD's without having drive issues, and there is no reason that I should be having an issue with the optical drive this soon into using it...
honestly, it takes all my patience to keep from going into my local Apple Store and throwing a fit and demanding that they get their act together or give me a new laptop. I've never had so many issues with a computer, particularly not within such a small period of time... does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do at this point? I don't know if I just have a lemon, or what, but this is really ridiculous, and I need to know if there's anything I can do beyond just having Apple replace my optical drive and RMA'ing the HDD... as it is, I'm in school and don't have enough spare time to have to get these issues fixed, and I can't be bothered with having to worry about the reliability of the computer that I use for a majority of my schoolwork, especially considering it's less than a year old.
