I have the Feb '08 MBP (previous generation).

Will this hard drive work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148371

Here's the official page at Seagate - http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=04d26c9cf9c2d110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&locale=en-US

If you look at the product page it has the following tech specs for dimensions:
Height - 9.5 mm
Width - 69.85 mm
Length - 100.35 mm

Also, has anybody used this? Reviews? What would you recommend for a 500gb drive? I've always had good experience with Seagate...

Thanks

It's 2.5 inches and SATA, so it should work. I haven't used it (had a bad experience with Seagate many years ago), but it should be fine. I don't think hard drives are as compatibility-challenged as some think. It's pretty much size and connection, especially if you buy from a company you've heard of (WD, Seagate, Maxtor).

Thanks for the reply. I know what to look for in terms of compatibility (2.5" & SATA), but have heard of some people not being able to fit the larger drives in there MBPs because of height, so am wondering mostly about what dimensions are necessary.

9.5mm is fine. It's the 12.x mm drives that only work in the 17" MBP.

Cheers,
