I've been pouring over the various threads on this forum and around the internet and I thought that I would share what I feel is the most useful info out there regarding the 5400 vs 7200, size, heat and noise issues.

I hope that some of you find this useful, and thanks to the others that have already posted on this issue, on behalf of myself and the others like me that agonize endlessly on issues like this :p Most of this is centered around the WD drives (my current preference) but other drives mentioned as well.

was walking thru best buy on the way out of the mall and i thought i would just see if on the off chance they had the 7200rpm 500GB Seagate and to my disbelief they actually had it in stock. i looked around kind of suspiciously and snagged it. it replaced my Scorpio Black and i have not noticed any difference which in my opinion is fine. Im just happy to have the extra 180GB.

Out of curiosity how much did the drive cost?
