I have recently purchased the Caldigit USB-C Pro Dock whose USB-C port became the permanent home of my Lacie mobile drive.

I am concerned with the long term wear and tear of hypothetically having the device powered on all the time, does this fact happen with the peripheral connected to the USB-C port ? And is there a way to interact with this behaviour ?

Thank you for your time.

I don't know if the drive stays powered on all the time, but wear and tear isn't a concern. Hard drives are built to run all the time. Plan for failure, though, because it will fail not matter how much you try to baby it.
