hi,

i have a macbook 2006/07 may-edition and i have a 80GB-hitachi-hdd SATA in it ...
i just bought a new hdd at amazon ... WD scorpio blue 500GB SATA but it won't fit into my macbook-case ... i made a foto with both connectors ... they seem to be not the same ... can someone help me ... which hdd would i have to buy to fit the requirements ? ...

EDIT:
on the top is the old hitachi hdd, beneath is the new WD scorpio blue 500GB hdd .... they are both SATA, but why doesn't this stupid WD fit into my macbook ?

Thats strange. Its hard to really see anything from the picture but if the new one is a SATA 2.5 then it should fit!?
I just put a SeaGate 500GB in my Unibody.
From searching it seems other people have your HD in the same MacBook...... Im not really sure what the problem could be.. Sorry.

Are you 100% sure you are putting it in correctly, have you tried putting the old one in just for kicks?

It is not unheard of for people to try putting the disc in upside down....

The metal caddy sits next to the outside of the casing - not next to the bottom of the keyboard......

Is the hard drive too big so it doesn't slide in or it won't connect?
And what you are showing in your photo, those golden connectors, that are the jumper connectors or old IDE power connectors I think (hard to see) - they shouldn't matter in your case.

it seems funny .... but tonight i came home at 30 past 3 in the morning ...
i had drunken a little bit and i tried to slide in the stupid hdd again ...
suddenly it fitted .... i don't know why, i don't know how ... but it fitted ...
i tried to slide it in about 15 minutes in not drunken condition ... but it fitted at the first try when i was drunken ...

thanks for all the advice ....

:)

I have similar experience from programming. When I get stuck on something... I mean really stuck, it usually helps to drink alcohol. Makes me relax and think more creatively.

Who said "alcohol doesn't solve any problems"? :D
