Ok, I have heard about/read details on HDMI 1.3, and am very excited. However I'm kinda confused and have some questions....

Is HDMI 1.3 a new spec altogether? Will my current HDTV be able to take advantage of HDMI 1.3 (Yes, I'm currently using HDMI)? Is it nothing more than a firmware upgrade or something or will I have to buy a whole new HDTV? And 1440p!?? TV's don't even go up that high yet. I don't even know what spec I'm currently using...how can I tell what HDMI spec I'm using (1.0/1.1/1.2/etc)?

I'm not an expert on this but I suspect a TV that already does not support the greater color depth still won't support it after you connect a HDM 1.3 source. i.e. I don't think a firmware TV upgrade could add it.

The audio parts of HMD1.3 are not (practically) relevant for a TV.
