Just bought a the hdmi DV adaptor for my ipad, had it connected to a 23" Dell and was doing some light net surfing and charging at the same time and the adaptor and the bottom left part of the iPad 2 heated up quite a lot.

I've often surf the net while charging and have never experienced this kind of heat up in my one year of owning this device. In fact, I can't really remember the ipad ever heating up from any kind of use.

Is this the way it is or could it be a possible defect?

edit: the amount of heat generated is similar to when 3G is switched on on the iPhone 3GS and the to a lesser extend, the iPhone 4S.

I notice heat when just playing videos through the adapter to the tv but I don't bother to see if that is normal. Also it gets hotter when playing and charging.
I guess it is so small that it is not dissipating heat correctly or what.
