What cable do I need to watch full 1080P video on my 40" Sony TV? Also if my base Mac has a resolution of 1400x900, does that mean I can watch only 720P HD video on my Mac and unless I watch the 1080P video on my TV, the difference is non existent?

I need to add this cable to my Mac order to avoid shipping charges (btw, should I look at monoprice.com if the cable is expensive in Canada?).

Thanks for the advice!

They have mini display to HDMI with sound support... just search online or go to your local Best Buy or Apple Store.

hi there, this cable (or something similar) will work nicely for you!

you can put the TV into "extended desktop mode" which means its resolution is independent of your MacBook Pro - it can therefore go up to the full 1080p resolution. :)

Are you kidding me? Don't buy any of the cords posted above. 45 bucks really??
Check out Amazon. Don't spend more than 15 on both the adapter and the HDMI cord. Add a case for your mac to avoid the shipping charge or something else that is worth spending that much money on.

get a grip, please. i posted something that everybody has access to (apple ships worldwide), and said "(or something similar)" indicating that he/she MAY wish to go find another product externally if they wish.

seesh. sorry for helping.

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter on monoprice says it doesn't do audio

If it does work, 1080P via TV guarantee? What are the shipping cost to Seattle Washington?

Hopefully I'm buying the right cable for my setup (see signature below).

Thanks!

I have the monoprice adapter I bought for my late 08 MBP that didn't support audio through MDP anyway. I can confirm that audio does not work with it even in newer machines. I believe Moshi is currently the best solution (though a little bit pricey).

wasnt it only from the 2009 models that supported audio through mDP->HDMI?
