HDMI Cable Not Working With OS.X Mountain Lion

Does anyone know of a fix to allow the HDMI cable to work with this OS? I upgraded to Mountain Lion and I have a 2010 MacBook Pro. I don't own an AppleTV and wasn't planning on purchasing one.

Prior to this I had the OS that came with the computer. Not sure which that was. Maybe I should revert back?

mid 2010 should work, but not prior models. I have 2009 model not getting the image on TV. Had to revert back for this model.
Have your try to work with display on yours, because my mid-2010 macbook pro
with Mountain lion works.
