Btw its called the digital av adapter, and Yes it does and it works AWESOME! I love mine, got it at my local best buy. Just make sure you get a GOOD HDMI cord with it.

Oh and it only works with iPhone 4, and I'm guessing at least software version 4.0, they say 4.3 but I'm running 4.2 and it works perfect.

Perfect. Does it fill the TV screen when you use it? I was thinking about grabbing one so I wouldn't have to tether to watch netflix and AT&T wouldn't say anything.

Yep it does. I use mine with Netflix as well, works perfect. Well worth it.

...hmm,not too sure on that!

This article says the complete opposite to what you are saying: When used with original iPad, iPhone 4, and latest-gen iPod touch, will only show video output and photos—no mirror imaging. Occasionally doesn't show picture if charging cable is not attached. Home screen and non-video content is displayed in 1080p, but does not fill screen.

I don't get what that article is saying that I said opposite? It does work with iPhone 4 and version 4.2, not trying to be rude but I have the adapter and I been using it daily for about a week.. ;)

Just trying to understand this....plug in this cable to your iphone4 and you can play whats on your phone screen to a big screen tv? So does it fill the screen? Say if I have a 50" screen, will I be able to play Angry Birds on a full screen? What about the sound, will it be played through my sound system?
Is it just like using a DVD player or gaming console, but it's the iphone instead?

I just bought this cable literally because of this thread, and just go clarify the mirroring is really only for iPad 2. That means whatever is shown on your iPad screen, will be shown. So for me since I've only got an iPhone 4, so far it works with anything playing on iPod, streaming Netflix and also streaming video from Safari. Other than that, it won't show on your tv.

Perfectly explained. That's it. And what sucks is the app has to be updated and has to support tv out. Mostly used for Netflix, chopper 2, perfect browser, viewing vids, YouTube, etc. Not mirroring though. Wish it did.

...so just to clarify, if I bought this adapter for my iPhone 4, it will NOT display YouTube, games or any apps onto my tv?

TBH - I only want it to watch the films, which I have purchased through iTunes, in HD quality! Did you say it does fill the tv screen - I only have a 32" ?- (thats what she said:D)

Also - the only ones which I have managed to find (here in the UK) are on Amazon and eBay and cost around £30 - is this the going price for these things?!

I believe YouTube works, I can try once I get home. Any games or apps need to be updated first to have video out in order to work with the adapter.

Any movies purchased on iTunes that have been moved to your iPhone should work, they play on 720p and it does fill your tv screen (wide screen). Even regular music songs will play on your tv (no video though)

Here in the US the price is $39.99

Can somebody confirm if you need iOS 4.3 on the iPhone 4 to get the adaptor to work??

My iPhone 4 is still on 4.2.1 and have connected the adaptor to my phone and then to my HD tv via hdmi cable - however, I cannot get ANYTHING to work? No YouTube, no videos, no music nothing???

I've tried different settings on my phone AND on my tv but just can't get ANYTHING to display on the tv?! I've tried 2 different hdmi cables in 2 different hdmi slots (my tv has 3) but nothing works?!

I know it should be working because if I start up YouTube, although nothing is displaying (or sounding) on the tv, I get a message on my phone saying that the phone is connected to the tv and should be playing on the screen?! I might also add that no video or sound plays on the phone either whilst it's connected to the tv?!

Do I need 4.3 for this to work or is it a faulty adaptor?

As I said above, it works perfect with 4.2. What kind of hdmi cable are you using? I'm using a high speed one. But yeah it should work, make sure the input on your tv is on hdmi. If not no idea? Should be plug and play.

If you bought it in an Apple store, you can return/exchange it within 14 days of purchase.
