HDMI out to Mac USB-C input?

I'd like to record the electronic viewfinder of my Fuji camera onto my Mac. The Fujis have mini-HDMI output that can send the video through a cable. My Macs have USB-C inputs. So, is it possible to use a mini-HDMI to USB-C cable to record the viewfinder video with Quicktime using this approach?

No, you need a video capture device like the Camlink 4K (or similar, there are many similar devices) in between.

Depending on your camera it might work in webcam mode, which works similar but may or may not give the same resolution.
