I'm really interested in getting an ipad 2 because i can connect it to any tv in my house and then use it as a media player.

One thing that got me worried was that the ipad is 4:3 and the TV is 16:9.

If i put a 720p film on my ipad and then use mirroring mode, will it shrink the image and add black bars? Could a jailbroken version include the ability to over ride this?

If with the current ipad, you have a 820p video and you airplay it to the TV, does it display properly?

Thanks

See, in the home, I can't see the point. Most people have good WiFi in their home. Most homes also have some kind of network storage, be it a dedicated NAS or a computer that is on. For a fraction of the cost of an iPad you can buy a media streamer for movie playback on any TV...

Anyway, 720p played on the iPad 2 will output as 720p on the TV, FWIW.

Your right, you can buy media streamers for less. But with the ipad it's just a bit more convenient and has other uses.

I can also take it to another persons house and watch something there.

If media through my tv was my only use for this, it's def over priced but since it can do other things too it's not so bad.
