Okay I bought the cable adapter for my Macbook Pro 13 inch 2011 i5 computer. And I connected the mini display adapter, but the problem is with the output sound. For some reason the sound effects can be heard on my television, but the output sound does not. I put my Macbook Pro is clamp shell mode if that makes a difference. Also, I have a 40 inch 1080p Samsung LCD. And this is the min display adapter I ordered to go with my hdmi cable that I already owned.

"The device has no output controls," that's what the output says...

It's normal not to be able to control the volume from the Mac. For the sound issue, option-click on the volume icon in your menubar or go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and choose the HDMI output (however it may be labeled). It tends not to be chosen automatically, although it sounds like it did get selected somehow for the alert sounds, which can be chosen separately.

It's still not working. I selected the output for the television, and it still does output audio on the tv.
