Hello. I am hoping to get my 30" cinema display to run from a HDMI output so that I can plug it into my HDMI-only KVM switch. I found a thread here that gave some pointers but am running afoul of the HDMI to DisplayPort step. Here is my current set up:

Starting at my 5,1 MacPro with an RX580, HDMI out port:
HDMI to DisplayPort active converter (like this one) (this is the part that isnt working)
to DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter
to Mini DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI converter (Apple A1306)
to 30" Cinema Display DVI wire

Everything works fine until I add the HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. The product says it can handle the resolution of the 30" display, but all I get is a black screen. I've tested the HDMI port itself on another monitor and it works fine. I also tested this set up on DisplayPort into the GPU and that worked fine as well.

Has anyone had success with this monstrosity of a conversion, or a better alternative.

Good question - that's the one thing I can't test at the moment.
