So what HDMI to USB-C adapter actually works correctly with the new iPad Pros? I tried a new cord and an Anker adapter and neither works correctly. The cord didn’t work at all and the Anker adapter shows all funky colors that are not accurate. I was hoping not to have to spend $69 for the Apple adapter.

Same one I linked to, different length. OP said they have it and it doesn't work.

Works fine with 2021 iPP to a 4K monitor - I use it for both the M1 iPP and M1 MacBook Air. No issues. I’m using 6ft. Maybe 10ft is too long?
I got the 6 foot one and it will flicker in for a second and then goes out. I returned it. Then I got just the adapter from HDMI to USB-C and it shows all the colors funky like mostly all reds and yellow.

I’ve been reading this thread (and older related thread linked above) with interest. I‘ve been using a usbc>display port cable to connect my cellular iPad Air 4 to my Dell U2718Q 4K monitor only for streaming apps. It fills the screen for the Netflix and Apple TV+ apps and looks great, but can’t mirror HBO Max, which requires HDMI.

I found an open box Apple usbc>HDMI multiport adapter at Best Buy for $57 and that’s coming today. I may pull out of storage a Samsung tv to test with too. If all three streaming channels work best with the adapter and the tv, well, guess I’ll have to concede that bit of minimalism I was trying to avoid.

@Nhwhazup, did you find something that worked? I’m very pleased with the Apple adapter for both my TV and Dell 4K display, and now I can use my MBA in clamshell mode too. But even with the $58 open box price, it’s a lot more than a $20 solution. But with that there’s the good warranty and being able to take it to the local Apple store if there’s a problem.

I also had good luck with the iPad to the 4K monitor using a generic DisplayPort > usbc cable. I’m curious which display you’re connecting it to and whether you’ve tested with DP as well.

I haven’t bought the Apple adapter yet. At some point I’ll try one at the Apple store to make sure it actually works.

Update: I did order the Apple adapter today and should have it tomorrow. I’ll report back once I have it.

After feeling I’d paid too much, I exchanged the Apple adapter today at Best Buy for an Insignia version for $24.99. The website showed an open box in stock for $19.99 but it wasn’t available when I got there. That’s OK, it‘s still a $35 difference from the $58 + tax open box Apple adapter. It works very well to stream from my iPad to the TV, which was the primary purpose.

The Insignia adapter doesn’t have the extra usb-c charging port, but that wasn’t a requirement. I wanted to experiment with clamshell mode on my MBA, but don’t need it for my Mac-based projects or stream enough from the iPad to the TV to need to charge the iPad simultaneously.

I got the Apple adapter today and it works just as it should. I would have rather saved some money but hated to keep trying and returning. So the Apple one it is.
