HDR videos via iMessage works fine to most devices but for instance iPad Pro 9.7 and iPad 6th then they look really bad. Like really really bright and over saturated. Should it be like this?

I've found HDR to be pretty buggy right now. Even on Apple's own apps like imessage as you've noticed, but this also occurs on instagram.

iOS needs to be better about sending/uploading an SDR version of a video when required. We shouldn't have to turn off HDR completely in the settings in order for this to work reliably.

are you sure you can send HDR videos via iMessage? I did many tests, all HDR videos are converted to SDR automatically
