I have a Samsung 4K tv (UN65RU8000FXZA) and Apple TV 4K (14.0.2) in 4K HDR mode Chroma 4:2:2.

HDR usually works fine.

Occasionally after waking from sleep there will be a gradient in the colors of video (Netflix, Amazon Prime) and the Apple TV interface.
I think this started happening with a later version of tvOS 13?

I then have to go into Apple TV Settings and choose an SDR mode or restart.

Any ideas?

Yea, I noticed anything digital streaming box looks like ars in HDR. Set ATV to out put SDR 60, then enable both optons in match content. That way your ATV 4k will output SDR for the menus, but switch to HDR, DV or stay SDR depending on your content. This is the best way to use your ATV.

Turning on Match Content lowers the CPU usage of your TV. Allowing the TV's CPU to focus on other frame by frame features you have enabled.
