HDV newbie

I just purchased the Canon HV-20. I am aware that I-Movie 3 will not handle HD footage ( I plan to Purchase FinalCut)
My Question:
for the time being,Is there any way I can view my footage in 1080 or 24p on my mac display in HD without editing? QuickTime maybe? I don't have a HD TV.

I think so, I can capture my video through QuickTime Pro but not sure how it would handle HD Video, I need to do a little research on that.

Surely if you have a G5, it should have come with a version of iMovie that supports HD?
