I'm looking at buying a new laptop using my HE discount and I notice I can 'upgrade' the standard free AppleCare for around £50. As far as I can tell this just gives me extended telephone support. Is this worthwhile?

Is there anything else I miss out on? I vaguely remember reading a post that mentioned something about the uplift providing an international warranty that the standard version lacks. Is this correct?

Ideally I'd like to save £50 (or spend it upgrading the laptop) rather than unnecessarily purchasing this.

EDIT: I managed to find a good post on this https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1103022/. I won't bother with the uplift, not fussed about telephone support.
