Head phone ringer image will not go away

When I am listening to music and I get a text message at the same time the text will show up on the screen as well as the bell icon with the headphone volume image. The image will not go away however. Is this a glitch that other people are having or is it just on my phone?

To get rid of the image I have just been restarting my phone. Is this the best way to go?
