I've got a new tMBP, but prefer the Android side of the mobile world. As a result I have many sets of headphones that have come from assorted Android devices, most recently the Galaxy S7 Edge. These headphones come with built-in microphones and often have a 4-pin style headphone connection (Mic, ground, R, L). See the left plug on this image if you want a visual.
I tried plugging these into my macbook pro last night and it recognized headphones being plugged in, but would not play audio through them. In fact even after I unplugged them, the macbook pro would not even play audio out of the speakers until I rebooted the machine.
I did some looking around and it seems Apple has configured their macbooks to only recognize traditional 3-pin headphone connections (ground, R, L). Since I have so many of the 4-pin headphones that I like to leave around in different locations, is there an adapter I can buy that will make these headphones work with my new macbook pro? At this point I don't even care if the built-in microphone part works on the headphones, I just want to be able to use the headphones I have without having to go out and buying more of them.
Thanks
