Headphone connectivity problems - MacBook Pro 10.9.2

ust recentally my laptop is not recgonizing my headphones. They worked about 24 hours ago, and now nothing.
I've checked the system sound, and i'ts not simply an issue of the output being muted. The headphones are not regestering when plugged in.

- The headphones work, I've tested them on other devices.
- External speakers are functioning.
- There is no light of any kind emitting from the output.
- I've connected the headphones mutiple times with the same result.
- I've reset the NVRAM/PRAM as well as the SRC.
- I've run a virus scan with no results.
- I've run an update.
- I haven't installed any new software - updated to 10.9.2 about 2 months ago.

I'm leaning toward this being a physical issue, but am really hoping that it can be solved with a software fix.

So i'm not sure what happened. But about a day later I tried it again and.... Voila! It's now working. Sometimes I hate computers.

I know this may suck for someone having the same problems, but do all the stuff I tried first! That normally should fix the problem.
