I've noticed that when the headphones (standard Apple ones) are plugged into the iPhone, and there's no music playing, there's a crackle/feedback noise that comes through, fairly loudly.

Is this normal? I thought I better check, as this never happened to any of my iPod's.

Hi - I can't say I experienced that problem. The only reason I'm no longer using the std apple headphones is because they were uncomfortable to wear - I have little ears ;)

I ended up picking up a pair of inner-ear Sony ones to replace them with :D

That doesn't sound normal. I use the standard issue ear buds with my iPod Touch and I don't hear any crackling.

I get a funky crackle in the right bud sometimes when the music is way up...not sure if it's the same issue. But yes, I have noticed crackly noises with the iphone buds. I keep meaning to stop by the genius bar and see if they'll replace them...
