Headphone jack not working now won't boot

My late 2008 MBP started by not outputting audio to headphone and now when trying to restart it sticks on this screen. What's the command at startup to access Disk Utility? Any idea what's wrong?
UPDATE: it finally booted up.
ALSO, I'm gonna finally migrate to my new MacBook Pro Retina. Should Migration Assistant still be okay or should I use a restore from my Crashplan backup?
