headphone jack not working

my headphone jack is not working. i've tried the headphones on different devices and they work fine. When i go into system preferences and sound and click on the output tab it says digital out. shouldn't it say headphones? I've to reset the PRAM and SMC and that didn't work.
 
did you push the jack all the way in? the last mm is a bit harder and it may seem it's enough, but it isn't.
