Headphone Jack

if there is something stuck in the headphone jack, is there a way to force the sound to come out of the built in speakers and not what it thinks are headphones? my friend has this problem.

I have this problem with an old Powerbook of mine and I would like to know how to do this as well. It's completely stupid that I can't change the sound output in the system preferences. Rogue Amoeba's SoundSource didn't help either--it wouldn't let me change the output.

My old Powerbook thinks there's headphones plugged in but that's not the case. Is there any way I can force OS X 10.4 to use the speakers? I need some help.
