Headphone problems.

On very low songs or no song at all, when I wear my earphones on my iMac 17 inch, i hear a very annoying hi pitched whine. EEEEEEEEEE! EEEEEEEEEEE! SO ANNOYING. It almost sounds like at a rona store where the cut keys. EEEE! EE!, and then it will go in to a low buzzing sound. BUZZZ...BUZZ BUZ.

As I suggested in another thread concerning same problem with speakers:
Check plugs and connectors for dirt or damage.
Try and plug the earphones into another computer.
Try and plug other earphones/speakers into the iMac.

I did that. The buzzing remains...
