Ok so i just got a macbook pro from my fiances sister as she broke the headphones off inside of it and just decided to buy another one.....so ive tried everything to get it out...crazy glue and every object imaginable tweazers you name it ive probably tried it....so my question is can i use a hot needle to poke through the backside of the audio out on the logic board? and if that wont work i want to completely disable the audio out jack and just use the speakers....(PLEASE NO POSTS ABOUT TAKING IT TO APPLE CARE THEY WANT $700 TO REPLACE THE LOGIC BOARD AND IM NOT DOING THAT...MAINLY JUST IDEAS ON HOW TO DISABLE THE AUDIO OUT....TRIED SYSTEM PREFS BY THE WAY.....

thanks everyone!

I did a quick google search and I found this thread that lists a number of other options for getting it out (beyond the glue method).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I read that thread....unfortunately it had no useful info on my problem....I would just prefer to disable the audio out rather than try to pull it out and cause more damage....anything on disabling the audio out and routing all sound to the internal speakers?

another option...

if there is no way to disable the headphone jack and use only the speakers and you have no audio whatsoever here is a simple idea: use a usb audio interface. you can buy one as cheaply as this http://www.amazon.com/Channel-External-Sound-Audio-Adapter/dp/B0027EMHM6. all you would need to do is go to System Preferences on the Apple menu, click on 'Sound', and select the usb device as your audio output.

I know this still doesn't solve the problem but at least you can get SOME audio out of your computer.

Wait, let me get this straight here....

She broke off a headphone in the headphone jack and then thought "Oh well...I'll just buy another computer?"

Are you kidding me?

Can she lend me money?

Ran into this on another laptop before. This is what worked for me. You'll need a rotary drill (dremel or otherwise) with a very small bit, the smaller the better. Take a safety pin and use it to prevent the broken off plug from rotating. With the drillbit, drill into the plug half way and when the bit is embedded into the plug, stop drilling and simply pull the plug out. If that doesn't work, drill to the base of the plug, insert a paperclip with a fishhook bend in the end until it snags in the bottom of the plug and pull it out.
