Headphones, No speakers...

I am using my MBP and it runs the games much better than my Dell, but my problem is that i like tomplay games with my headphones (audio-out port) , but i can't seem to use the headphones alone...in otherwords i'm getting sound form both the headphones and speakers..anybody know how to disable the speakers so i can hear from the headphones alone
