Headphones for Macbook
Hi there,
I am fairly new user of macs. My first one I got at the beginning of this year.

I've been having an odd problem.

The ONLY headphones that work on my macbook are the Apple white headphones from my iPhone.... y'know, plug it in, it takes a few seconds, then switches to headphones.

I hate the apple headphones, though.

I have excellent Grado headphones and an amp, too. But whenever I plug anything (other than apple headphones) it just doesn't switch to headphones! stays on speakers....

ideas?

my klipsch work fine so its not an apple only thing

I'd take it to the Apple store and show them the problem, maybe they can change it out for you or fix it.

Make sure the plug on the Grados are fully seated. They're not making contact if sound is still coming through your speakers.

Ok here's what you need to do to get it working! Go out and buy Beats Studio by Dr. Dre or Bose headset! :D

i have a few sets and external speakers and have no problems. i agree that you should take it to apple and show them what it is doing

Make sure you have your headphones fully seated into the socket. I noticed my apple headphones seat easily but my speakers that i have for my macbook when its at home require a little more force to make sure as i have pushed the plug in then open iTunes and still get laptop speakers i go to my speaker plug and push just a little bit more and bam it starts playing music through the speakers
