I have just tried the AUX to headphone jack in my iPhone 6S and it worked perfectly. This probably shouldn't of worked but it did. Do you think apple could of accidentally made the lighting connector be able to play music to headphones by mistake but took away the AUX jack because of this ?

the lightning port has always had audio capabilities.
