Headset Troubles.

When i listen to music, clicking the headset button once is supposed to pause/play my music. and double clicking is supposed to make it go to next track. My headset does nothing when i click the button. Ive tried numerous times both with the iphone locked and unlocked. The headphones' audio quality is fine, the click piece just isnt doing anything. Are my headphones defective or does this feature need to be added or turned on?

make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way, if they are, take it back to apple, sounds like either the headphones, or the jack inside the iphone is having issues, good luck
