Heaphone mic overrides internal mic!

Hello!

I've noticed recently when using applications like Skype, that the mic built into my headphones overrides the internal mic. When my headphones aren't plugged in the internal mic is registered, but then only an external mic is shown in System Preferences when the headphones are plugged in.This has only happened recently and I can't find a way to fix it in System Preferences or in Audio MIDI setup.

Please Help!
