I had heard that the "apple watch" link bracelet wasn't going to be avail on the 24th. Is this true?

There's an instagram photo out there of a celebrity (Mike from Suits) who got his apple watch s/s with the link band on friday. He was in an Apple Store and they set it up for him. Otherwise I haven't seen anyone.
