I just signed in for the first time and this is my first post ever on MacRumors forums. Just wanted to say hello to everyone here.
I've been reading a lot on these forums as there's a huge amount of knowledge. Very useful for someone like me who isn't very technical at all, but who's thinking about buying a new iMac. At the moment I'm on my second iMac (late 2013 / i7 / 32Gb RAM/ NVIDIA 780M 4 GB and 3 Tb Fusion Drive (128Gb SSD). I'm using a 6Tb Thunderbolt 3 Lacie external for Time Machine.
For a long time I've been pondering between a Mac Mini 2018 + Eizo screen (cg279x), ór a new iMac. Photography is my main hobby.
Now, I could ofcourse work longer on my iMac, but some programs can use more speed (like DXO Photolab 2).
I always tend to buy a new computer/iMac, with max. specs (more future proof), so a 8-core i9 / 8Gb memory (buying 64Gb or even 128Gb elsewhere, as soon as I order an iMac) / Radeon Pro Vega and 2Tb SSD is on my list.
Ofcourse next year/in 2 years there might be a completely new iMac (no bezels/chin/etc.), but I still find the looks of the current Mac ok. No problems with that at all. This Intel 2019 model seems to be a very solid upgrade to my current Mac. An upgrade with will probably serve me well for 6/7 years to come. Beside that, I think this present "concept" is well developed (less risk for failure compared to a new design/new internals/etc.).
Happy to be here (and I hope, I'll learn more and more about this and future iMac)!
