Hello folks.
Well I have taken the plunge and purchased a 2009-10 imac from e--y!
Hopefully it will arrive shortly. I am eager to install the latest operating system before I start so I am up to date.
The present system is Snow leppard I understand I can download Moutain Lion from the Apple store and install it, but of course in case of future problems I would like to make a self booting dvd. So I could restore the system in case of HD failure etc. Is this difficult?
Any info greatfully received.
Many thanks John (Yorkshire Dales England)

The most current version is Lion, not Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion will be released sometime in July.

For restoring your system:

Indeed, Lion is the latest OS with ML coming soon.

Now, you can upgrade to Lion through the app store for $30, but I seem to recall hearing that SL users would be able to directly update to ML for only $20. If this is the case (someone correct my if I misunderstood), you might consider waiting for ML and save $30.

If one is on the latest version of snow leopard 10.6.8 it is possible to directly upgrade to ml.
