Hello,
Well, I went without any problems with my G4 or Mac OS for 6 years but that ended when I updated my G4 dual PPC from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11.
When the G4 restarted after the update it looked like it didn't finish - no optimizing. It started and the desktop came up but I could not access any of the system software - no System Preferences, no QT, no Safari, no Terminal, etc. Although, I can run software apps that I loaded just fine. I made a combo update disk and tried to boot from it but that did not work. I would give up and start over by reloading my Tiger Install DVD except that when I do I get a Darwin login and not the install menus.
Any clues on how to get out of this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Especially any info on how to continue with the reinstall of the Tiger DVD from the command prompt.
Thanks,
StanG4
