Help! 10.8.2 Mail Problems

Mid-2011 iMac, 2.5GHz and 12GB RAM, 10.8.2

Can anyone walk me through how to fix these issues:

Calendar never stops updating, always says update in progress

And waking from sleep, Mail won't connect to 1 of my 2 email accounts, usually a Yahoo. Have checked keychain and re-input password, but that's it. Still happens.

How do I fix these annoying problems?
