Hi,

I am in midtown New York on a call on ATT 5g and got the dreaded kiss of 5g death. I heard a loud screech then the line went dead. No signal. I rebooted and 5g came back on and then disappeared. I kept rebooting and signal kept on dying. I reset network settings and even all settings.

I drove around and the issue kept happening for about 2 hours.

I am back home and stuck at very slow 4g. I just saw 5g pop up and then the signal disappeared. A minute later 4g popped up.

It has been less than 14 days since I got the phone. Can I return this lemon to apple store for a replacement or is apple playing hardball?

I use the phone for business and cannot be losing money because of this issue.

What is the best fast solution to this issue?

Apple will usually swap it out even if it’s after 14 days granted it won’t be sealed in a new retail box. Especially if the issue is showing it’s head while you’re at the store or have proof of the issue. If it’s after 14 days, it will be a new phone in a white box. This isn’t your case however. You’re still within the return period. You might run into inventory issues if the phone isn’t in stock but I’m sure they will figure something out for you.

I agree, doesn't matter if it's before or after your 14 days return right. It's a fault, and unless they think it can be corrected with a software fix, they will swap it out. I'd book an appointment with the genius bar (if that is possible these days...) or try to call or hit them up online.

Anyone know why this happens suddenly? I had the phone working well for a week. I'm trying to think if any of these issues were gradual as I do remember having some text messages and emails suddenly appear as if I had lost connection.

Has anyone taken in their phone and had apple acknowledge a certain issue such as this?
