Help a newb upgrade from beta to final

I'm on the final beta, version 8 or 9, but it doesn't see the final release to upgrade.

What do I need to do?

This was my first time paticipating in the beta program. I thought it would be automatic.

It's never automatic. But all you need to do is download the full installer from the App Store and re-install the OS like a normal upgrade.
