Hi all,

Right, I’ll give you a little background, I have been a user of Apple products ever since the original iPhone and love them, however of all the things I’ve owned I’ve never owned a Mac/MacBook (despite always wanting to), never been in a position to as they have always been too pricey for me,
Anywho... hast forward to now and I am finally in a position to buy one and so am gong to go for it,
Now I have read numerous posts on these and other boards and watched numerous YouTube vids and have seen that some have had all sorts of issues but that hasn’t it me off....
I have decided i definitely want the 15 inch with touch bar, but it’s the specs from here that throw me a little,
I will be using this for basic web browsing, listening to music, basic word processing and I am also going to attempt to get into a little video editing (nothing special, just family videos and maybe the odd vlog if the feeling takes) however this will be all filmed on iPhone, no super duper 4K super HD or anything like that, I was planning on using the iMovie app as oppose to final cut as that seems far too in-depth for what I am looking for,
So the question is “is the baseline model fine as it is for the use I intend to put it through? “ I know storage is irrelevant as I can get an external HDD but is it worth me updating the processor or Graphics?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Yes, the baseline model would be much, much more than enough. Even a 12" rMB would be able to handle that kind of usage without any issue.

Thanks for that, I’m sure this is the case but I just love the MacBook

You're welcome, nothing wrong in buying a better machine with more screen estate if you can afford it. Btw, if you have extra money to spare I'd throw that at Apple Care for peace of mind, as out-of-warranty repairs on MBPs are painfully expensive. If you could get an extended warranty through your credit card, that would be even better.

There should be some pretty good deals for what you are looking for in the Apple refurb store. Too bad you missed out on the black friday deals. There were some really good savings on 15" MBP's, from memory, almost $1000 savings for fully spec'd models. I was tempted.

Ive already factored this in, aside from my car and house this will be my next most expensive purchase ever so will be doing everything to protect it, Apple care and a decent case/cover being must haves,

I do keep checking the refurb site in case anything pops up, it’s probably going to be another 4-6 weeks before I can buy so maybe something will pop up by then, I’m also gutted that I can’t take advantage of the free Beats offer from late last year, they are a product of love but would never be able to justify the cost of
